Chapter 1

"I mean, how annoying can he get?"
Anda blared on and on about her little brother, Keane.
"Tell your parents he's annoying the hell out of you,"
Kacy suggested.
"I wish I could," Anda muttered.
I listened to them half-heartedly as they brattled on and on.
They were always talking about Keane.
"Ellin, Ellin!" Arie called.
"Huh?" I asked, eyes wide wih confusion.
Arie rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"This girl,"
Anda gestured to me.
"Has major not-being-with-us attitude,"
She finished.
The others nodded in unison.

"Whatttttt?" I demanded,
watching them stare at me.
Kacy slapped her forehead.
"She's totally consumed in her own world!"
she declared.
Just then, the bell rang.
I towed myself behind my girlfriends as we headed to class.
First period.
Geography.
Mr Evon was blabbering about mapworks and such.
I tried to pay attention while my girlfriends were doing the same.
Ever since the last semester,
my geographyhas been rather weak.
Not wanting to lag behind the class,
I've been working extra hard to strengthen it.
The lessons dragged by ever so slowly.

"Ellin!" Arie hissed.
I turned behind to look at her.
'What?' I mouthed.
Sneaking a peak over at Miss Garner,
who was busy scibbling stuff all over the whiteboard.
She then slipped me a piece of paper, folded in half.
I made a face and turned back,
unfolding the piece of paper.

To: Our oblivious Ellin.

When are you ever gonna realise that hot hot hottie Eric
over there... --------->
Has the hots for you?
Please be more attentive,
my dear!

Love; Kacy, Anda and Arie.

I turned over, rolling my eyes at them.
I mouthed the words 'not-interested'.
I snickered as I watch them exchange faces of horror.
They just didn't understand.
Well, no matter how many times I've told them..
They still refuse to accept the fact.
That I only like someone for their personality, not looks.
That was when Eric strode over.
"Care to join me for lunch?"
He asked casually.
I glanced over my shoulder to meet the gaz of my friends.
Their eyes were all glimmering with hope.
"Um, sure.."
He smiled warmly.
"Its a date then,"
he whispered in my ear,
not bothering to hide his smile in his voice.

I wanted to protest that it wasn't a date,
but he was long gone.
Within seconds,
my girlfriends swarmed around me.
"Oh. My. God." Arie breathed,
fanning herself.
"You lucky girlllll!" Kacy exclaimed.
"What did he say?" Anda demanded.
At that instant, all three pairs of eyes fixed on me,
shining brightly with interest.

"Jeez you guys.." I mumbled.
And I spent the rest of the school hours handling my friends' non-stop curiosity.
Finally, the bell rang again.
I took my bag and shuffled towards the door.
I almost crashed into Eric if he hadn't called me.
I felt my insides tingle.
"Hey, you ready?" he asked.
"Sure.. Mmmm, yeah." was my reply.
He had offered to carry my bag,
but I declined politely.
And with that, we strode into the cafeteria.
